Advent season in every city is a particularly magical period and city of Split is no exception. Since Split is the largest city on the Croatian coast, it is no surprise that it has the most diversified and largest program for this time of year, at least when it comes to cities in Dalmatia. Indeed, this year Split can boast the richest program so far.

This time of advent is related to tradition so cities of rich history such as Split are even more charmfull when the buildings, streets and squares built at various periods of history are enriched with Christmas trees, decorations and ornaments that contribute to the charm of already most charming town on the Adriatic.

When we add to this the temperament of Dalmatians who already traditionally occupy the terraces of cafes and tourists who enjoying walking through this open-air museum, then the image of advent in the city of Diocletian is almost complete.

In addition to this there is good food, scent of mulled wine, and other things like breakfast with orchestral live music in the nice ambient of city square Pjaca.

There is also entertainment programs for the youngest who surely enjoy the most during this part of the year. For them there are in Strossmayer Park a whole series of workshops, playrooms and the celebration of St. Nikole and St. Luce, and the New Year’s Eve, specially organized for their age.

Youngsters can have fun on the riva with D.J. programs and concerts. Those who like urban music can find interesting spending some time in front of the Art Gallery listening Jazz music. Lovers of classical and traditional spiritual music will also not be disappointed.

In this time of giving Split hasn’t forgotten vulnerable members of society so people are collecting money for the reconstruction of the facade of the home for the abandoned children “Maestral” as well as the “Great Dance of Little Angels”, which is held in Strossmayer Park for the first time in the open air, where children with special needs can participate.

However, if you want to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays along the palms and sea in the Mediterranean, Split is the right choice for you. If you are already in Split, do not forget to take some souvenirs, besides photography and pleasant memories, which you can buy at any point of city.  This way you will be reminded of this year’s advent in Split and all the experiences that you certainly won’t forget.
